Prayer Requests

I believe that God is a great and loving God. I believe that He has the power to heal. I believe in prayer.

If you want to pray for us, we'd so appreciate and love that.

These are our specific prayer requests currently (as of 9/10/14):
  • That God will continue to give us strength, peace and comfort on this journey
  • That I will not develop any metastasis or recurrence, and that after everything (surgery, chemo, radiation) the cancer will be gone and will never return
Praises (answered prayers):
  • That we had wisdom in quickly picking a medical team and starting treatment (3/8/13)
  • That my first chemo treatment and after effects were tolerable (3/17/13) 
  • My 28-week prenatal ultrasound showed no placenta issues or growth issues (3/22/13)
  • That this cold I had did not get worse or impact my chemo treatment (3/27/13).  
  • That my platelet and other blood counts were high enough enough for chemo on 4/10/13 
  • Last AC chemo was completed on time (4/24/13) 
  • I tolerated all four rounds of AC chemo with minimal side effects (4/26/13)
  • Growth ultrasound at 34 weeks showed a healthy and growing baby (4/26/13) 
  • That our baby girl will keep growing until full term and not be growth restricted (5/24/13) 
  • I had an easy delivery and no c-section (5/30/13)
  • Our baby girl was born healthy!!! (5/30/13) 
  • God guided my decision about what surgery to do and my surgical team is in place (6/20/13)
  • That I had minimal chemo side-effects for my 30th Birthday (7/6/13)
  • That I tolerated Taxol chemo with minimal side effects (7/19/13)
  • That I didn't get any secondary illnesses from the chemo (7/22/13)
  • That Elise's UTI/kidney issue resolved (8/1/13)
  • That I will have a complication-free surgery (8/6/13)
  • That my surgeon will only have to remove a small amount of lymph nodes (8/6/13)
  • That the pathology report after my mastectomy will show no live cancer cells i.e. pathological complete response (8/8/13)
  • That I will have a good recovery from surgery  (8/28/13)
  • I tolerated radiation with minimal burning (11/13/13) 
  • That radiation did not cause complications for my reconstruction (1/16/14)
  • That I will not develop lymphedema from the lymph node removal or radiation (1/16/14)
  • That I will have a compilation-free surgery/recovery for the final reconstruction (5/15/14

  6. Kirsten, I don't know you, but you're friends with my sister Marissa Luning. I was very encouraged by your walk and this blog. I keep thinking about my second pregnancy. When I delivered, the midwives were astonished and impressed by the abnormal strength of my placenta. It was so thick and strong that they asked to take pictures! While I was pregnant, someone had prayed that there would be extra protection surrounding my baby (because I was having some health issues). I just want to pray, that your baby would have that extra protection surrounding it, too. The testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of Prophesy and so I am believing that He will do it again. He will complete the good work He has started. Lots of love!!!

  7. Hi Kristen - I don't know you but your dad was my thesis advisor at SDSU a few years ago. He shared your news and your blog link with me and I just wanted you to know I will be praying for you. I am due June 7th with our first so not far off from you... but I just can't fathom having a cancer diagnosis right now. I will be praying for you for a full recovery and a healthy baby. Stay strong and be encouraged that there is nothing our God cannot do!

I do not know you and I literally just stumbled upon your blog from Pinterest but the moment I read what was going on, I got down on my knees in the middle of my office and asked out sweet Lord to heal you and asked him to give you a long, happy, healthy life with your sweet, growing family.

    I am so very sorry that you are going through this right now. We are all rootin' for you and thank you for your courage and positivity during this time!!
