Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow

Last night I took the plunge and had my hair shaved off. It was coming out in mass from the chemo, which was super annoying and gross, so I figured it was time.

I actually had a great time!

My friend Sarah's friend Denise (who is an awesome hair stylist) came over to my house and cut and shaved it for me. So sweet!

First she cut into a few different styles. It was fun to get a glimpse of my future hair!

Shoulder length
Short! I actually kind of liked this.
Miley Cyrus style. Ridic.

Then she shaved it all off! Eeee!

Here's the "finished product" with Denise, my fabulous stylist.

Bald and pregnant!
And with my dear friend, Sarah.
Sarah's baby is due two months after mine. I can't wait for our kiddos to be friends!

So that's done! No more worrying about conditioner, blow drying, or flat irons for a while. I think bald is the ultimate "mom hair"!

I must admit, it's pretty surreal to not have hair. I feel like a "real" cancer patient now. But honestly, I'm not that sad about my hair. I know it's one more necessary step on the road to recovery. And hair grows back.

Oh, and I have some fabulous wigs I'll model and share here later next week. Get excited.

  2. I imagine you're not ready, but honestly, you are one of those women with facial bone structure that looks great with the shaved head! I always wanted to do that, but I have such a big round face I'm not sure I could pull it off! Anyway, you keep looking great - the smile certainly helps, too. And I agree, the short hair in the second picture looks really good on you. How cool that Denise could ungrow your hair through several styles!

  4. I randomly thought of you today. Wondered what you were up to, if you and your hubby had traveled to any exotic locations lately, and if maybe *just maybe* you had a little one on the way yet. I gasped out loud when I saw your photo on my Instagram feed. Kirsten, I am so sorry to hear of this news, but I KNOW you will beat cancer. You absolutely have it in you, and your smiling face just proves that! You truly do look as beautiful as ever. You're the most beautiful bald woman I've ever seen! And while I am so heartbroken to hear of the trials you're currently facing, I'm thrilled to see that you do have a baby girl on the way. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time, and I'll be following your journey from here on out. Lots of love!

  11. Kirsten, you know you look gorgeous. Check out that model pose. I love the title of this post. It reminds me of the moral of Little Bunny Foo Foo. I hope it is an omen about your cancer: here today, gone tomorrow. Love to you.

  12. Kirsten,
I hope you don't mind but your dad shared your blog with me. What an inspiration you truly are...for all women! I will be praying for you and your family and pray God blesses you with nothing but the best moving forward.

  13. You look super cute with that pixie! I guess that's an upside (?) to cutting it off. You got to see what it will look like as it grows back and you never have to wonder about haircuts because you already know.

I don't think I'd be sad about hair either. More about my head getting sunburned because I've already had skin cancer.

You're a lovely pregnant lady and I think the turban is so very yoga-friendly. Proud of you.
